The Odyssey Charter School Board is a volunteer position typically filled by teachers and parents of students of OCS as well as business professionals from throughout our community. Meeting monthly through the school year, the Board of Directors oversees business decisions, future planning for the school, and adherence to the school's mission and vision. The Board seeks out and accepts applications from capable individuals within the school and community when filling vacancies. Terms of office are typically three years to help get a working overview of school activities, needs and directions. All OCS Board Members can be contacted by calling 321-733-0442.
Leslie Maloney, President
Educator/Community Member, Term: 2015-2018
Ms. Maloney, a Palm Bay resident, has a Master's Degree in Applied Sociology and holds a Florida Teaching Certificate in Social Studies 6-12. Ms. Maloney has worked as a teacher, program developer, adjunct instructor, and has developed challenging college level curriculum for AP/AICE Psychology, and Intro to Sociology. She played an active role as an original Odyssey Board member back in its inception. Ms. Maloney has been a Board member since May 2014.
Thomas Cole, Vice President and Treasurer
Community Leader, Term: 2015-2018
Mr. Cole brings over 15 years of educational experience to the Board. He has a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership, and a Master of Arts in Exceptional Education from the University of Central Florida. He has a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice. Mr. Cole is the Founder and Executive Director of Emma Jewel Charter Academy in Cocoa, FL, providing a research-based health and nutrition curriculum, and is a supporter of the healthy school initiative. Mr. Cole has been a Board member since August 2013.
Jessicah Nichols, Secretary
Teacher, Term: 2017-2020
Mrs. Nichols was a former educator at OCS and is currently an active mom of four children. She graduated from the University of Central Florida, earning a B.A. in Early Childhood Education. She has dedicated many hours to the benefit of OCS since 2003, as an educator, parent, and staff member. Mrs. Nichols has been a Board member since July 2008.
Sonja White, Board Member
Community Member, Term: 2015-2018
Ms. White has a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and is pursuing a graduate degree in management and leadership. Ms. White is an accomplished law enforcement officer with a combined 28 years of experience in positions ranging from Patrol Officer to Deputy Chief with the Orlando Police Department. Ms. White has been a Board member since May 2014.
Amanda Larson, Board Member
Community Member, Term: 2017-2020
Ms. Larson has a Bachelor of Science in Genetics, a Master of Science in Accounting, and holds a license as a Certified Public Accountant. Ms. Larson has a strong background of finance as she, in her current position, audits charter schools throughout the State of Florida. Ms. Larson has been a Board member since May 2015.
The Board of Directors oversees business decisions, future planning for the school, and adherence to the school’s mission and vision. Regular meetings are normally held four times per fiscal year at 9:15 a.m. in the Odyssey Charter School Lower Campus conference room. Special meetings may be scheduled as needed by the Board within 24 hours notice. All meetings are open to the public and abide by Florida Sunshine Law.

Calendar of Board Meetings
Individuals or groups wishing to address the Board at any meeting should arrive prior to the meeting and sign-up on the Public Comment form. Public comment will be limited to three minutes. Concerns will not be addressed at the Board meeting. All concerns will be addressed in writing in a timely manner.
Sensory and mobility impaired persons seeking assistance for participation in any meeting should contact the School Principal.
Anyone who would like a copy of a Board document must complete a public records request form located in the school’s office.

**Dr. Monica Knight has been designated by the OCS Board of
Directors as the Representative to Facilitate Parental Involvement,
provide access to information, assist parents and others with questions
and concerns, and resolve disputes according to charter requirements.
